Nostalgia

Yes, I know I posted about vases a little while back but I'm gonna do it all over again as these are just too pretty. From the collection 'Nostalgia' these vases, designed by Bart Van Didden, are based on patterns he found rummaging through his grandmothers house. Inspiration came from everything including lampshades, bottle tops and pretty bowls. Using modern forms, Bart has mixed old with the new and created a lovely collection.

The vases are mainly small, delicate pieces which are perfect for grouping together or filling with single-stem flowers. Aren't they pretty?

I am obsessed with monochromatic squiggle paintings at the moment. Hoping to replicate the look by painting over a canvas I'm not keen on. Pot of white paint and a sample pot of Farrow & Ball's 'Railings' at the ready, just have to wait for it to stop bloody raining!

Victoria and Albert - Cabrits

A month or so ago, I began thinking about purchasing some new summer work wear as I realised that many of the items in my summer wardrobe have either ceased to fit me, or seen far better days and quite frankly don't need to see any more! However, since then the April showers and drop in temperatures have meant that this shopping trip has been postponed as I'm clinging firmly to my jumpers and indulging in those winter luxuries such as sipping hot chocolate in the evenings or taking long baths.

This brings me on to my latest find. A seriously beautiful bath from Victoria and Albert, recently launched at this year's Milan Design week. The bath is named after and inspired by the Cabrits National Park in the Caribbean, which features two volcanoes (now extinct).

Now wouldn't you love to sit back and relax in this? I love the way it has been designed to reflect the contours of the twin volcanic peaks. A design piece inspired by nature if ever I saw one.

Of course you couldn't have a stunning bath like this without the sinks to match...

What do you  think? Pass the candles and bath oil, that's what I think!

Dream Dress
