I recently came across a company that feels as nice as its sofas look. Let me explain. When I think of sofas I automatically reference the times in my life when I've bought one. So we have The Futon shop (university), IKEA (young professional) and DFS (married couple). None of these shopping experiences have been golden moments and the products were always so-so rather than oo-ooh! But I'd quite like to buy a sofa from Sofas & Stuff
Sofas & Stuff was started by two guys, Andrew and David who got together to make nice furniture. Andrew has been in the sofa business since 1979 and David likes furniture so much he even makes it at home after work. Don't they sound nice? Wouldn't you want a sofa designed by one of them?
These sofas are hand made in workshops outside Nottingham so complete control is maintained from drawing board to delivery. So far so good but the bit I really like the sound of is the showrooms. No really, listen.
These are not showrooms as you and I have seen before, or 'highly rented shops on noisy, dirty high streets'. Instead, the showrooms are located in beautiful barns in the countryside, where rents are 1/5th of most other furniture shops, so, as a result, the customer gets much cheaper sofas.
What's more, these barns tend to be near a great pub and are in areas perfect for walking off a big lunch. So as well as going to bounce around and test out a few lovely sofas, you can also have a great day out (this appeals to the day-tripper in me very much).
Sofas & Stuff showrooms are located in London, West Sussex, Kent, Berkshire and Yorkshire (sorry Scotland, I guess they're working on that). There's even one near where I live in Harrogate so I might just go along for a sofa jolly!
